FAQ
Entry & registration
How do I enter an event?
Through the website. Find your event, pick your distance, check out. Done.
Can I sign up on the day?
Sometimes, but don't count on it. We order kit in advance, so late entries aren't always possible. Check your event page before you make the trip.
When does online registration close?
It varies. The closing date is on each event page. Popular distances go faster than you'd think, so don't leave it.
Can someone else pick up my entry pack?
Yes. Drop us an email before the event with written authorisation and we'll sort it.
Do I need to bring anything on the day?
Your booking confirmation and any mandatory kit listed on your event page. Printed or on your phone, either's fine.
On the day
Where do I park?
Parking details are on your event page. Some venues charge separately. We'll tell you upfront if that's the case.
What time does registration open?
It's on your event page. We put full day-of schedules up well ahead of race day so you can plan properly.
Are dogs allowed?
Depends on the venue and format. Check your event page. Where dogs are welcome, they need to be on a lead and under control, unless there's a designated cani-cross wave.
Is there a bag drop?
Yes, at every B*Trail event. Details on the event page.
Are there toilets on site?
Yes. What's available varies by venue. Details on the event page.
The route
How well marked are the courses?
Properly marked. Signage and tape throughout, marshals at the junctions where it matters. You shouldn't need to navigate from scratch, but download the GPX anyway and bring it as backup.
Will I get a GPX file?
Yes. It'll come through by email before the event. If you don't see it, check your junk folder first.
Are there water or feed stations on course?
Varies by distance and event. It's on your event page. Start self-sufficient. Anything on course is a bonus, not a guarantee.
Can I recce the route beforehand?
That's between you and the landowner. Some venues are open year-round, others are private land. Check before you show up.
Kit & equipment
What should I wear for a trail run?
Trail shoes. For everything else, dress for the conditions. Some events have a mandatory kit list. Check your event page. When in doubt, carry more than you think you'll need.
Is there a mandatory kit list?
Some events have one, some don't. It'll be clearly listed on your event page and in your pre-race email. We check it at registration.
What bikes are allowed in gravel events?
Gravel bikes, cyclocross, hardtail MTB and similar. Road bikes on 25mm tyres aren't suitable for the terrain. Full-sus is fine but you'll work harder for it. Use your judgement.
How many water bottles should I start with for gravel?
Two. There are water stations on course, but start with enough to cover the first section. Distances and station locations are on your event page.
Are e-bikes allowed?
No, not in competitive categories. If your event has a non-competitive or family ride format, check that event page separately.
Refunds & transfers
Can I get a refund?
Entries are non-refundable. We know life gets in the way sometimes, but it's what keeps the events running.
Can I transfer my entry to a future event?
Yes, up to 14 days before your event. We'll move your entry credit to another B*Trail event. There's a £5 admin fee. Email us to arrange it.
Can I transfer my entry to another person?
Yes, same deal. Up to 14 days before the event, both of you need to get in touch with us, and there's a £5 admin fee.
What if the event is cancelled by B*Trail?
If we have to cancel, you'll get a full credit to use on any future B*Trail event. If we can't offer you something suitable, we'll refund you.
Results & timing
How are events timed?
Via Strava. Get the app running before you set off, not halfway round.
When are results published?
Once everyone's across the line we'll compile the leaderboard and share it. Follow us on Strava and @btrail.co.uk to stay in the loop.
Is there prize giving on the day?
Yes, for podium finishers in each category. Ceremony times are on your event page. Worth sticking around for.
What's included in your entry
What do I get with my entry?
A properly marked course, marshals, water on course where provided, a finisher t-shirt (not a medal), and food and drink at the finish. Full breakdown on your event page.
Is there a finisher t-shirt?
Yes. Every finisher, every distance. Kids included.
Is there food and drink at the finish?
Yes. We'll have something ready. Details on your event page.
Are spectators welcome?
Yes, and it's free. Normal parking applies. Some venues have their own entry requirements, so check the event page before you bring a crowd.
